ABOUT THIS SECTION
This section of the guide includes tools to support global education, including a unit plan and my thoughts about integrating and assessing global competencies in a standards-based school environment. Most of the images are linked to documents or web pages.
Educating for Global Competence
The Asia Society's publication, "Educating for Global Competence: Preparing Our Youth to Engage the World" is a well-conceived guide to global education. It provides a rationale for global education, a succinct list of global competencies, and ideas about how one might integrate the competencies into a lesson or unit.
This self-designed interdisciplinary high-school level unit was created during in fall semester of 2016 and implemented in the winter of 2017. Instruction and assessment focused on school-specific skill-based competencies that were refined with the Asia Society's competencies in mind. It integrated content from science, English, social studies, and math.

The Question Formulation Technique (QFT) is a great way to help students learn to ask different types of questions - an invaluable skill as they "investigate the world."
